How do I confirm my bank account?
- For security purposes or as part of the Verification process, you may be asked to add a bank account to your PayPal account and confirm ownership of this bank account.
You can confirm your bank account by following these steps:
- Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
- Click 'Profile' at the top of the page.
- Click 'Bank Accounts' in the 'Financial Information' column. (Don’t
see this step? Follow the alternative set of instructions below.)
- Select the bank account you wish to confirm, then click 'Confirm'.
- Click the ‘Set up Direct Debit’ button.
- The next page will display your bank details. Enter the full address
of your bank account then click ‘Submit’. Please note: If the bank
account is a business account or more than one person is required to
authorise debits, you must print and sign a paper Direct Debit
Instruction and post it to the address provided.
Or
- Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
- Click 'Profile' near the top of the page.
- Select ‘My Money’.
- In the ‘Bank accounts’ section click ’Unconfirmed’ beside the bank account you wish to confirm and follow the instructions.
PayPal
will send two random deposits, between 1p and 99p, to your bank
account. These deposits are at PayPal's expense and you'll find them on
your online bank statement after two to three business days, or on your
next paper statement.
When you know the amounts of the deposits, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account at www.paypal.co.uk
- Click 'Profile' at the top of the page.
- Click 'Bank Accounts' in the 'Financial Information' column.
- Select the bank account you wish to confirm and click 'Confirm'.
(Don’t see this step? Follow the alternative set of instructions below.)
- Enter the two amounts.
- Click 'Submit'. If the amounts are correct, your bank account will be confirmed.
Or
- Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
- In the ‘To Do’ box, select ‘Complete bank setup’ and follow the instructions.
By
completing this process you will also set up bank funding which will
enable you to add funds from your bank account to your PayPal account,
make Instant Transfers and eCheque funded payments.
The bank account confirmation process:
- Does not cost you anything
- Confirms that you are the owner of this bank account because only you have access to the deposit amounts sent by PayPal
- Only has to be completed once per bank account, unless you remove that bank account and re-add it to your PayPal account
